The Pearl District: Brewery Turned Village
The Pearl District: Brewery Turned Village
Former Pearl Brewing Company grounds on the Museum Reach of the San Antonio River. Best adaptive reuse in Texas. The brewhouse is now the Hotel Emma — even if you're not staying, the lobby (industrial steel, leather library bar, serious whiskey) is worth the walk-through.
Bakery Lorraine does macarons and croissants with Parisian precision and San Antonio warmth. The lavender macaron is the one you'll remember. The Pearl Farmers Market on weekends: local produce, tamales, barbacoa tacos under pecan shade. The San Antonio River's Museum Reach section — quieter and more naturalized than downtown's River Walk — has native plantings, public art, and water over stone.
Walk the riverwalk south to the San Antonio Museum of Art — a mile of shaded path, no crowds. The museum (another converted brewery) has Latin American folk art worth the trip alone.
